1955 Gibson J-50 + HSC

1955 Gibson J-50 + HSC

Player grade, big guard J-50 with a big sound! This one has had some running repairs over the years to keep it playing its best, but the guitar has a lot of character and makes for an excellent accompanying or solo instrument. There are a few changes to this one, including some finish overspray to the neck and body and a repair behind the bridge with some minor lifting to the top. Filler has also been added to level grooves in the fingerboard as a result of play wear.
Internally the bridge plate has been replaced - the newer part signed by R.Eaton and dated 8-19-07. The geometry is good and the action is spot on with saddle height remaining for additional adjustment down the line. There is also some lifting to the corner of the pickguard.
The neck is a comfortable full C profile that sits well in the hand and offers stability and resonance to the instrument. The sound is warm and tubby on the lower end, balanced well with a pleasant top end ring and powerful mids.
Although not a collectors piece this guitar has plenty going for it tone and playability wise, with some nice vintage looks to boot!
