1960 Fender Bandmaster 6G7, Brown Tolex

1960 Fender Bandmaster 6G7, Brown Tolex

One of Fender’s more exotic amps, the Bandmaster was first introduced in 1953. By 1959, the 5E7 circuit was found in the Bandmaster, Super and Pro with slight changes and different speaker configurations. Many consider the Bandmaster a more manageable Bassman. The change to a new layout for 1960 signaled some internal design changes, increasing the output of the amp. Arguably rarer than the tweed examples, the brown panel amp included the revered tremolo circuit.
Cosmetically this amp is in excellent condition, a few very minor knocks and scratches but the Tolex is intact all over and has escaped any fading. The grill cloth too is intact with some slight fade. Control face has a few minor marks but nothing too extreme at all.
The amp has been inspected in 2016 with an extensive report written on its status and some minor repairs carried out. As you can see from this, it was recommended that a three prong plug be fitted. This hasn’t been done unfortunately but we would recommend this work be carried out. Elsewhere it seems that one filter cap has been changed but nothing else has been changed or modified.
All three speakers are correct and work well with no evidence of any damage.
This amp lives up to its reputation. 45 watts will definitely get you to Fender-tone nirvana. The trio of 10”speakers give this amp a midrange-y punch that really cuts through and there's plenty of that wonderful brown panel tone on tap. The touch sensitivity is exquisite, from lush clean to gritty growl with a simple change in dynamics. The tremolo circuit is a fender classic, making for a truly inspiring amp.
Classic brown-panel tone with a bit more heft. Grab it before it gets away…
