1960 Fender Vibrolux 5E11 Tweed

1960 Fender Vibrolux 5E11 Tweed

A superb sounding 1960 Fender Vibrolux, running the classic 5E11 tweed circuit and delivering the classic lively, harmonically rich response that makes these narrow-panel Fender tweed amps so desirable.

The 10w Vibrolux occupies a particularly sweet spot in the late-’50s/early-’60s Fender line-up, offering more volume and punch than the smaller student amps, but without the size and volume of a Pro or Bassman. The result is an amp that feels immediate, touch-sensitive and very usable, with a surprisingly big voice for its format. Clean tones have that lovely tweed warmth and bloom, while pushing the volume brings in a superb growl, with plenty of compression, grit and harmonic texture.

This example presents very well, with its original-style tweed covering showing fair wear and general ageing throughout. Internally it remains largely originally but with the volume and intensity pots changed, along with the bypass caps. It's also been recently serviced by our tech so it has a clean bill of health and is ready to go!

Tonally, this is a particularly nice one. It sounds bigger than you might expect, with a full, open low end, a sweet top end and that unmistakable tweed midrange when driven. The tremolo adds another layer of vintage Fender character, giving everything from subtle movement to a deeper, swampier pulse.

A superb example with just the right combination of vintage looks, practical usability and genuinely inspiring tone. For anyone looking for a real-deal tweed amp that can cover warm cleans, rootsy breakup and excellent pushed growl without needing to fill a room with excessive volume, this Vibrolux is a fantastic choice!
