1965 Fender Jaguar, Sunburst

1965 Fender Jaguar, Sunburst

Effortlessly cool, well worn '65 Jag with loads of vintage character! This one came to us having not been touched for many years, but after a good clean and some basic TLC it's back with a bang and looking great!
This is a late L-series, pearl dot neck, un-bound fingerboard version - post clay dot but pre the transition to bound necks and block inlays. The neck is a comfortable medium C, the frets show wear but are original, as is the nut. Tuners are the correct double-line Klusons. The neck is nicely worn having benefitted from years of play to give it that smooth desirable feel. The body retains its original finish which as you can see in the photos has faded leaving a nicely contrasting perimeter burst with no red left to speak of. It shows wear and there appears to have been some minor surface reaction on the side by the rear strap button, commonly seen as a result of being kept in foam padded flight cases or similar.
Hardware wise, it's missing the trem arm but retains the bridge cover. The mute is present without the foam, and all other chrome hardware is correct. The pickups are the correct staggered pole, single coils with cream covers and the knobs and switches are correct too. Under the hood we have one changed CTS volume pot from 1981 and an original Stackpole tone pot from '65. The coloured cloth wiring all looks good and the switches and circuitry functions as intended. As expected there are lots of sounds to play with, from thin twang to warm, mellow tones and the out of phase option is always fun for spikey rhythm playing or single notes that really cut through.
All in all a very cool '60s Fender offset made shortly after the CBS takeover.
