1967 Fender Stratocaster + near MINT + OHSC

1967 Fender Stratocaster + near MINT + OHSC

Stunning 1967 Fender Stratocaster anyone?
This is a stunning and rare 1967 Fender Stratocaster that is gorgeous, in original case and with some cool case candy.
In case you were not aware, 1967 Stratocasters are pretty rare. 1967 was the least popular year for the CBS Strat and had the lowest production figures of any CBS year. A year or two later this was all to change largely thanks to a certain Mr James Marshall Hendrix…
We were contacted by one of the previous owners who is Rod Stewart's long time guitarist and he highlighted a track he used it on. He also told us he bought it from one of the guitarists who played with David Bowie and Seal so it does have an interesting pedigree...
The finish is stunning and has kept that deep nitro gloss that really accentuates the colours within the sunburst. The few very small and very minor dinks along the edge of the instrument are the only signs that this guitar has very been out of the case.
The neck too, dated September 1967, has retained its high gloss finish and the headstock has only a few very minor knocks. The frets show a little sign of use but not very much and the rosewood ‘board’ is first rate. On the back, you can see some signs of play wear and this is the only reason we are not describing this superb guitar as near MINT.
The plastics as well as the finish have hardly faded at all, just look at the pics. The electronics are all correct, there are three black bottom pickups, commonly seen during 1967 for some reason. All of the solder joints look untouched.
The guitar comes with its correct Black Tolex case which like the guitar is in mighty fine condition.
Many of those classic Strat tones live in these mid-60’s guitars and the grey bottom pickups. These guitars really deliver a fantastic tone that hasn’t yet drifted too far towards the thinner end of the spectrum and still retains some of the fullness of the earlier incarnation Fender singe coils.
Its getting increasingly harder to find instruments in this condition and even harder to find one from 1967 so when we do find one its always a joy. You get to glimpse how the instrument should have looked when it was first hanging in a shop window. We do not think this is going to hang around for long…
