1972 Fender Telecaster Custom, Cherry Refin + HSC

1972 Fender Telecaster Custom, Cherry Refin + HSC

This guitar has quite the look. Refinished in quite a fetching translucent cherry, this is one of the last few telecaster customs to have the bound body.  The only modification is the humbucker route and the shielding paint in the cavities
The neck is in great condition. There is very little wear to the fretboard and the frets are in great shape. The headstock is in great condition with the logo having escaped any real damage. Unfortunately the date stamp has been sanded off.
Electrically there is the obvious addition of a Gibson ‘Tarback’ humbucker and the pots seem to be from 1974. The bridge pickup looks correct.
The chrome parts show some corrosion and wear which fits in with the condition of the guitar.
The guitar comes with a hardshell case.
Sonically, this guitar has a superbly ‘spanky’ quality with plenty of bite from the bridge pickup as you’d expect. The humbucker is a perfect foil bringing a warmth and grunt to proceedings. The neck is comfortable to play and the finish has been sufficiently worn to provide a compliant playing surface.
A great players telecaster with a unique look. Grab it before it gets away…
