1991 Gibson Flying V, Jimi Hendrix Hall of Fame + OHSC

1991 Gibson Flying V, Jimi Hendrix Hall of Fame + OHSC

Stunning and rare Gibson Jimmy Hendrix Flying V from 1991, part of the 400 limited run Hall of Fame Edition Gibson produced between 1991 and 1993. Loosely based on Jimi’s own V he famously ordered in the late sixties the Hall of Fame Edition V features uniquely the sideways logo and split triangle fingerboard inlays, a numbered truss rod cover and a ‘Hall of Fame’ decal on the rear of the headstock. This guitar is number 216 of the run of 400 and dates to 1991, original throughout, it features a mahogany body with a large sixties style pickguard with Gold Hendrix Signature. The mahogany neck has the long headstock seen on the earlier V sixties guitars. The bound Rosewood fingerboard features the aforementioned Trini Lopez inlays. The hardware is gold plated throughout and comprises Gibson Keystone Deluxe tuners, wired ABR-1 bridge and tailpiece. The knobs are late-sixties style witch hats with gold inserts. Pickups are Gibson Humbuckers with a traditional 3-way switch, individual volumes and a global tone control. The guitar is a fantastic example of one of Gibsons more adventurous golden era designs, playing faultlessly and sounding killer. There is some light play through wear to the gold plating as expected and the body has the odd bump or bruise but the overall condition is excellent, especially when you consider it is now a 30+ year old guitar. Frets show very little wear. The slim neck feels great in the hand, perfectly suiting the V design. Nut width measures 43.27mm and the depth at the first fret is 20.02mm. The guitar is lightweight at just 6.6lbs and is incredibly resonant acoustically. All adds up to a fantastic sounding guitar to compliment it's killer looks! The guitar ships in its original Gibson Case.
